Keswick Cottages
Keswick is an idyllic market town in the Lake District. It has been a popular holiday destination since the 18th century, and it’s easy to see why. Its beauty was the inspiration for the great Lakes Poets Samuel Tayler Coleridge, Robert Southey and William Wordsworth.
The town is steeped in history and culture, featuring many events throughout the year. There is something for everyone, whether it’s the Film Festival, half marathon, a Jazz event, the Mountain Festival, or the beer festival.
Many mountains and fells surround Keswick. Beautiful views of which can be seen from the top of the wooded hill of Castlehead. The walk is relatively short and can be accessed from the Town Centre. You will be rewarded with stunning views and a dial that shows the directions and names of the 30 surrounding fells.
Just South of Keswick lies Derwentwater, which offers awe-inspiring views across the lake to Catbells and Maiden Moor. Nearby is possibly the most photographed bridge in the Lake District, Ashness Bridge and the Surprise View. You could also visit the English Heritage site of Castlerigg Stone Circle, one of Britain’s earliest stone circles at 4000 to 5000 years old.
Keswick is easily accessible via the M6 or the A591 road through the scenic Lake District. The town is also well served by bus with services to Carlisle, Kendal, Lancaster, Penrith, Windermere.
