Situated on the vast and beautiful Underley Estate, nestled in the heart of the Lune Valley, is The Old Laundry, a gorgeous rural retreat for two. It offers luxury accommodations and stunning views of the farm, the wildlife, and the hills beyond, enjoyed from the many windows or the outside courtyard garden.
The hot water tubs and washboards in wooden frames of yesteryear are long gone. Today, they are replaced with fabulous cottage-style furnishings, coupled with modern equipment and luxury facilities throughout, to provide a superb and comfortable holiday.
We highly recommend The Old Laundry, for romantic getaways or a base for couples to explore the region.
The building's layout is open-plan, but the owners cleverly and subtly subdivided the area to form the bathroom, bedroom, living room, and kitchen areas. Several windows line the side of the building to flood the accommodation with natural light while maximising the views. It really is fabulous!
The Underley Estate benefits from approximately 1.5 miles of private water on the picturesque River Lune, including pools such as the Broken Banks and Catamaran. Guests can try fly fishing on the River Lune, which is renowned for salmon in September and October and sea trout during the summer. Fishing is by prior arrangement; an additional fee and tackle can be hired on the estate.
If fishing isn't your thing, you can try clay pigeon shooting or perhaps explore one of the many walks and footpaths over the fields and through the woods (a map of the estate is available in the cottage). Many of the walks are only accessible to guests staying on the estate.
To make your stay that little bit more special, add a food hamper to be delivered to your cottage for your arrival.
