Willow Tree Pod

Brigsteer
Sleeps 2
Bedrooms 1
Dog Friendly

Willow Tree Pod is amongst the best glamping pods in this area. This dog-friendly pod has been fitted out to a very good standard, and the setting guarantees you a peaceful and relaxing stay. You will be staying on the fringes of the Lyth Valley in the attractive Lake District village of Brigsteer, which is quick (15 minutes) and easy to reach from the M6. The pod is set on its own in the grounds of Willow Tree Barn, which is an excellent two bedroom self catering property which can be booked separately.

It's amazing what you can pack into a pod and still have space to stretch out. There's a comfy sofa from which to admire the view and maybe spot the resident horse in the adjoining paddock, and a Smart TV to entertain you when darkness falls. There is a handy kitchenette with multi-cooker (microwave, conventional oven and grill), single electric hob plate, kettle, toaster, fridge, and sink. Tucked behind the seating area is the full-size double bed, and just a step or two away is the shower room. The shower has mains strength flow, so no dribbles of water here!

Outside, there is a private patio area complete with table, chairs, a two seater swing seat, parasol and a barbecue. The edge of the village location means you will enjoy hearing only the sounds of nature and gazing up at the lovely dark skies.

The Wheatsheaf in Brigsteer is your local pub (8 minute walk) and has a good reputation for food (booking recommended). A short drive away, you will find several other very well-regarded pubs, including The Punch Bowl, and The Black Labrador, both at Crosthwaite, The Masons Arms at Strawberry Bank, and the Hare and Hounds at Bowland Bridge. You are within easy driving distance of Lake Windermere and the high Lake District fells. In the attractive market town of Kendal (6 miles), you will be spoilt for choice with pubs, restaurants, cafes and entertainment, including the famous Brewery Arts Centre which has cinemas, live events, and exhibitions.

Come for a short stay and enjoy a taste of the Lake District - you may be back for more!

Brigsteer

About the location

Brigsteer and the Lyth Valley:

Nestled at the edge of the Lyth Valley, Brigsteer is a traditional Lakeland village of grey limestone cottages and is complete with an excellent pub, The Wheatsheaf. Beautiful, peaceful countryside is all around with lots of walking routes, including the favourite Scout Scar walk, which can be done straight from the door of Willow Tree Pod. Scout Scar is a superb high plateau reached via woodland and has far-reaching 360 degree views towards the Lake District mountains and Morecambe Bay. Longer routes can be done and turned into circular routes without needing to use your car. Outdoor activities, including water sports on Windermere, mountain biking, and multi-activity days at Holmescales Farm

There are three stately homes just a few miles away - Sizergh Castle, which is a National Trust property near Kendal, from where you can also start good walking routes on public footpaths. Levens Hall is world-famous for its amazing topiary and has a very well regarded cafe too. Holker Hall and Gardens is another magnificent property to visit and (perhaps with a little planning...) could be your future wedding venue.

Central Lakes:

The incredible outdoor playground that is the Lake District is an easy 20-30 minute drive. You can visit the famous lakes themselves or climb the fells that tower above. Bowness-on Windermere (25 minutes) is right on the lake, and ferry services take you north to Ambleside, or south to Lakeside, where you will find the Aquarium of the Lakes and a steam railway. Maybe try paddle boarding or hiring a motor boat on Windermere or how about a romantic afternoon tea and rowing boat hire on Grasmere at Faeryland.

Grizedale Forest (40 minutes) is a great day out with activities that include the Go-Ape high ropes and zip wire course, Segway and mountain bike hire—this is one of the north's premier mountain biking areas with well-marked woodland routes. Gentle, dog-friendly walking routes include the famous sculpture trail.
