Ash is a shepherd's hut ideal for couples seeking a relaxing stay in the Lake District. A cut above other similar properties, Ash has been thoughtfully designed and kitted out with both comfort and style in mind. You will be surrounded by a lush garden area with outdoor seating and not one, but two barbecue facilities - you can choose from a gas barbecue or the very special barbecue hut, complete with a real Scandinavian 'Hygge' vibe - fairy lights, reindeer skins and a central fire pit for a fabulous barbecue experience! There are a number of seating areas, both just outside the hut for al fresco drinks, and in the communal garden area. One small dog is permitted.
Inside Ash, you'll be snug, thanks to the underfloor heating and wool insulation. Although the outdoors is literally on your doorstep, modern facilities are to hand for your comfort. A small kitchenette is ideal for whipping up simple meals or snacks, and there is a fridge to chill that Prosecco. The double bed has a feather duvet and pillows, with crisp white cotton bedding. Anti-allergy bedding available upon request. Built-in soft seating completes your bedroom area. The small but perfectly formed shower room is just a few steps away, with modern fittings and an electric shower. The painted wood panelling and muted relaxing colour scheme work really well to make you feel at home.
Being just an 30 minute drive from the M6, Ash is in a superb location for exploring the Lake District and the coastal areas surrounding Morecambe Bay. There are almost too many great places to visit in one stay - you may need to keep coming back for more...The southern end of Lake Windermere is 10 minutes away, perfect for wild swimming and paddle boarding. The Lakeland fells in the distance await you, with Helvellyn and Scafell both easily accessible. Classic Lake District villages such as Hawkshead and Cartmel are nearby, and there are plenty of activities to try, such as mountain biking, walking trails, Segway, and Go Ape, which can all be done in Grizedale Forest. Water sports are available on Windermere and Coniston Water. Woodland, coastal and easy countryside walks are all on your doorstep. Ash is one of three huts on site, and use of the garden areas and barbecue hut is shared between guests.

About the location
Ferries on Windermere depart from Lakeside, which is 4 miles away. You can cruise up to Bowness and beyond to Ambleside for a car-free trip into the heart of the Lakes. Also at Lakeside, is the Aquarium of the Lakes, and the terminus of the steam railway. Another nearby attraction is the Lakeland Motor Museum.
For basics, there is a petrol station at Newby Bridge (3 miles), which has a well-stocked convenience store. The attractive market town of Ulverston is 6 miles away and has larger supermarkets (Booths, Marks and Spencer, Aldi), a traditional cinema, quaint pubs, cafes and independent shops, and a great walk up to the Hoad Monument viewpoint (a copy of the Eddystone Lighthouse).
For outdoor enthusiasts, Grizedale Forest is a must and only 8 miles away. There is a plethora of walking and mountain biking trails (bike hire available), including the famous woodland sculpture trail. There are also adrenaline-pumping activities, including the Go Ape high ropes course, zip-wire experience and Segway trails.
A visit to the ancient village of Cartmel (7.5 miles) is a great half-day out with excellent places to eat for a real treat, including L'Enclume (voted one of the world's best dining experiences), Cartmel Priory (The 'Cathedral' of the Lakes), the Cartmel Races, a walk up Hampsfell to the viewpoint over Morecambe Bay, and local craft shops. Just a bit further over the hill from Cartmel is the genteel Victorian seaside resort of Grange-over-Sands with its long promenade overlooking Morecambe Bay, traditional tea rooms, and independent shops, including the excellent Higginsons Butchers for all your barbecue meats and rather good pies. There is a railway station here, and trains trundle over the viaduct over the bay to the village of Arnside, on the other side of the bay, with yet more great coastal and woodland walks and very good fish and chips.
