Woodville Terrace

Shap
Sleeps 3
Bedrooms 2
Dog Friendly
Woodville Terrace is a beautifully refurbished two-bedroom mid-terrace holiday home with a small enclosed patio garden in the charming village of Shap, 17 miles from Kendal and 10 miles from Penrith.

The ground floor consists of an open-plan living and dining area with comfy sofa seating, a 40" Freeview Smart TV, and a large wood-burning stove—ideal for those chilly winter nights after exploring the eastern fells by day. A starter wood supply for the fire is provided from October to March.

The gorgeous kitchen leads off from the living area with a high vaulted ceiling and plenty of work surfaces. It has been fitted with modern appliances, including an electric oven and hob, a large fridge and freezer, a toaster, a kettle, etc. You'll have no issue cooking up a family meal—that is, of course, if you don't fancy eating in one of the nearby pubs, like the Greyhound Inn, just a five-minute walk away.

Outside to the rear of the house is the quant patio garden with seating and a lovely little fountain pond. If you have bicycles with you, the rear gate is handy for bringing them in.

Back into the house and upstairs are the two bedrooms. Bedroom one is a spacious king-size double bedroom with fitted wardrobes. The view is of the front of the property, the street and the fells beyond. Next door is a single bedroom with a view of the rear patio garden. This is a trundle bed, so the bottom bed can be slid out on request to make another single bed - ideal for kids. Finally, the bathroom has a bath, shower, toilet, and basin set into a wooden vanity unit.

This is a fantastic holiday home for family holidays or perhaps business travellers looking for a comfortable base with a good internet connection and close to the M6 Motorway.

Woodville Terrace has been listed since August 2024.

Shap

About the location

Shap Village is a quaint village in the East of Cumbria, 10 miles South of Penrith and just a 5-minute drive from Junction 39 of the M6 motorway.

This historic village is a key accommodation stop-over point for walkers undertaking the Coast2Coast route from St Bees on the west coast to Robin Hood's Bay on the east coast, giving the area a real buzz, particularly in the summer months.

There are three pubs in the village, plus a CoOp grocery store and a great fish and chip takeaway, ideal for nights when you don't fancy cooking in the apartment.

Shap is perfect for walkers, too, thanks to the variety of walking trails nearby in Swindale or around the Haweswater Reservoir. A little further afield is Ullswater, where you'll find the Helvellyn amongst other great fells walks. Ullswater is also home to the Ullswater Steamers - a fleet of heritage boats that sail along the length of Ullswater - popular for the fantastic scenery.

Another popular nearby attraction is Lowther Castle and Gardens, which has something for all ages. Sadly, today, the castle lies in ruins, surrounded by gardens within gardens and an adventure playground to rival the best in the land.

Overall, Shap is a great base from which to explore the South and the North Lake District. We are sure you'll enjoy the stunning scenery, friendly locals, and wonderful accommodation.
